Ben played with Lego longer then is generally considered socially acceptable. His parents thought it a harmless creative outlet. It was a mistake, Ben became an Architect and Urban Designer.
With experience in Australia and the Netherlands, Ben has worked in award winning practices and in local government, bridging strategic urban thinking with the craft of architectural design. His projects range from reimagining transport corridors as connectors of communities, to shaping neighbourhood precincts that balance density with liveability, and exploring new approaches to housing, public space, and regeneration.
Alongside practice, he is an active design advocate. He has taught and critiqued at Queensland University of Technology and the University of Queensland, and co-founded RARE, a Rotterdam-based research collective that hosts talks, workshops, and exhibitions internationally.
Ben believes that great cities are shaped not only by good design, but by enabling people to bring them to life.
